Search for a makeup course in Karachi and you will find everything from weekend workshops to months-long diplomas, at wildly different prices. Before comparing fees, compare what sits behind them. A certificate is only worth what the training taught you.
What a serious course covers
A professional certification should take you from foundations to advanced artistry in a structured sequence. Our own 10-day program is a useful benchmark for what to expect anywhere:
- Days 1 to 2: color theory, product knowledge, sanitation, facial features and color correction
- Days 3 to 5: skin preparation, eyebrow measuring and monochromatic techniques
- Days 6 to 9: Eastern bridal styling, theatrical 3D makeup, full cut crease, dewy finishes, smokey and halo eyes
- Day 10: final assessment and certificate distribution
If an academy cannot show you a day-by-day curriculum like this, that is your answer.
What decides the fee
Four things separate a cheap course from a valuable one: the educator's own professional record, the quality of products and tools you practice with, class size and individual attention, and the name on your certificate. An internationally recognised credential travels with you; a photocopy certificate from an unknown parlour does not.
Duration: shorter than you think
Full-time professional certification takes about two weeks. Part-time formats stretch to one or two months. Be cautious of both extremes: a one-day masterclass cannot make you job-ready, and a six-month basic course is usually padding.
Questions to ask before you pay
- Who teaches, and what is their working portfolio?
- How many students per batch?
- Do I practice on real models or only mannequins?
- Is the certificate recognised beyond this academy?
